Folding Stocks & Zero Retention: Transport Without Surprises
Fold for compact transport, unfold to the same shooting geometry. Use consistent torque, repeatable fit, and a quick arrival check to protect zero.
Why folding helps
• Protects the bolt and optic from bumps in vehicles and tight spaces.
• Shorter case length for discreet carry and easier storage.
• Faster to stage on tripods and benches when the rifle packs cleanly.
Keep zero repeatable
• Record action screw torque and check after travel.
• Mark accessory rail slots and clamp positions with a paint pen.
• Set length of pull and cheek height once, then lock them and note measurements.
• Keep weight close to the centerline so the rifle tracks straight on support.
Arrival check (two minutes)
• Level the rifle in position; confirm witness marks on rings and bases.
• Fire a 3–5 shot confirmation group at your standard distance.
• If point of impact shifted, recheck torque and rail positions before changing the zero.
Tripod and bag workflow
• Clamp the ARCA rail at your marked balance point; verify no side roll.
• Use the bag rider flat on the rear bag; avoid edge loading that causes hop.
• Keep support hand for fine balance, not steering the shot.
Common mistakes to avoid
• Over-torquing mounts and crushing interfaces.
• Moving accessories between sessions without re-marking balance points.
• Packing heavy items directly on the optic inside the case.
